As Monty Python's Flying Circus used to say... And Now For Something Completely Different!
This is a medium sized HO Model Railroad that cohabits with my N Scale Empire! It is connected in its history to the larger layout in that it proports to represent the very first Railroad to be built in Boyle County Arizona, before Arizona was even a State! It is set in 1865 and the motive power is a group of Wood Burning "American Class" 4-4-0 locomotives, A left over engineers special used to build the line and running as an 0-6-0 tank engine and a strange wood burning steam Railmotor. It runs from the small town of Clearwater Canyon which will in time grow into Las Rocas to the Native Village of Thunderbird Lake which will be absorbed by the sprawling Subdivision known as Dannville.
This is very much a layout to "play" on! No fancy DCC here, no electrically switched turnouts though the controller has got an inertia control system which can catch out a novice easily!
The Clearwater also runs as a modern day Tourist Preservation line with a set of old time cars pulled by an aged but immaculate PRR F Unit and a Shark Nose that hauls it's own "Midnight Special Dining Train" but its strangest occupant has to be an "Ariva" Company "Pacer Unit" ! This is stored nearby and run occasionally... A stranger in a strange land indeed!
The Pacer Unit is actually belonging to Stephen who not only helps me with the N Scale Empire but also keeps the Clearwater RR running nicely! The sounds of steam on the Video are drifting down from the N Scale World above, and the last scene is of the Real Life version of the same Pacer unit back in historic Darlington Station and I might point out that it is NOT setting off for London ! That just happened to be the announcement of a Southbound Scottish Express due to arrive on a different platform {track} However for those outside our area, that is Darlington Station itself, a massive "Railway Cathedril" Fitting for the birthplace of the Steam Railway Age!

The Palace Car for First Class Only

A Second Class Train arrives at Thunderbird Lake

The Railroad is actually owned at this early stage by the local Native People and this is the luxurious private car used by the Chief! Its name is "tutunka" meaning Buffalo.

This is the interior of his Private car, he is standing in his robes in his study while his White "Trophy Wife" sits in the lounge area as befits any American Railroad Chairman!
I decided that it would be fun to have the Native Americans owning the railroad instead of attacking it all the time!
Most of the stores in Clear Water are named for friends... Here Dave Spitz runs the General store.

The Palace Car First Class Only!
Inside the Palace car, at one end a heated coach section and the other end a dining room complete with piano.
The rather strange Steam Railmotor!

State of the art steam Pump to supply the locomotives with much needed water!

Like all the buildings the Photographer's studio has a fully detailed interior, as it's 1865 the Funeral Portrait of Abraham Lincoln is on display.

The Stage has arrived. It will another 20 years before the Railroads conquer the continental divide and put the Stage Lines out of a job!
