The Silver Cloud
To augment the Silver Shadow service
{Posters at foot of next section }
The Es&LRR is to introduce a brand new and revolutionary train set!
Sadly GM got the paint scheme wrong as the Silver Cloud is of course all silver!
The punch line of this Add was to promote the cheap Vacation package prices that the ES&LRR sold as being like "Bus fares on Railroad Trains!"
Newspapers were not left out of the general publicity barrage with this dramatic Add.
Believe it or not this IS a genuine Add of 1950!
I have only added the blue & silver text. This was to be the Station of the 1960's! What went wrong ??????
Even the auto ticket dispenser was 40 years late!
The Es&LRR is just like any real Railroad and hard at work is a publicity department creating Adverts and Posters for the Lines many and varied services Here are a few of them
The Agnes Robinson Limited is the most prestigious of all the ES&LRR's services She is a First Class All Private Room All Pullman Train and departs daily from both Chicago Union Station and LA El Segundo Terminus. Del Ray Or King's Cars are specialy luxurious dome cars with a private dining room in their dome section.

The Gibbings Canyon Flyer has an important Historic place in the ES&LRR.
It was the first train to be run by the parent company of the line "The Essex Torrance & Rosarito Railroad" And it was this train that the wily founder of the line secured running rites over the Santa Fe system for. Since the creation of the ES&LRR the Flyer has run as the Second Class service to the prestigious Agnes Robinson.
The Poster above reads "Affordable Luxury for All"
Note the "Afforable Streamliner Luxury" Banner at the head. Even in the 1940's the company was concious that there was a market to be won on low prices.
Another first was the realization that there was a growing market in the West for traval back East.

And here is the oldest known Poster from the days of the ET&RR
Here is a Rare an never published poster. It was designed as the new services were being planned in the late 1920.s
The San MiguelRodgers &Jay Chavez Railroad is a branch line that starts at Las Rocas and heads up into the Mountains. In The Pre-War days the line ran seperate tourist trains but services have since been absorbed into the ES&LRR.
The Western Senator is the lines very top service, jointly operated by the mighty PRR and the ES&LRR it runs from New York to LA and prides itself on its all First Class Service and departs New York in concert with the great Transatlantic Liners
Massive "J Class" steam locomotives were purchased jointly to haul these luxurious expresses .

From 1935 to the present day {1960} The Silver Shadow has been taking vacationers into the mountains from Las Rocas.

{Above} The first version of the train had only three cars but was later extended to four cars as she has continued to run ever since.
"The Mountain Streamliner" design lent itself to dramatic Art Deco adversting Copy.
Most of these posters began life as real posters but have been augmented and adapted greatly, they can be found scattered round the model and can help bring a touch or reality to the model. Have a go and try it yourself and feel free to share your Publicity Departments attempts with the rest of us!

The Above is a rare example of a Pre-War Poster for the "Flying Hamberger" the worlds first non-locomotive rail-car train. Powered by diesel-electric it ran at consistantly high speeds and was put into protective storage on the outbreak of WW2. The poster was resurected in the 1950's for both East and West German railways with simple changes to the cap badge (I blanked it out in total!)
Sadly the train has never been able to rise above its association with Hitler.
